Davido has spoken out about the death of his personal photographer, Fortunate Ateumunname, aka Fortune, who passed away on Tuesday.
According to reports, the 24-year-old photographer drowned during a photo shoot in Lagos.
On Saturday, Davido paid tribute to Fortune on his Instagram page. He described the late photographer as a complete stranger who became one of his closest confidants.
@fortunateumunname @fortunate I can’t believe you’re no longer with us. You’ve never left my side since we first met. for a single day… Your web page is self-explanatory. You were entirely focused on me, as if nothing else mattered. Within weeks, you went from being a complete stranger to one of my closest confidants. “There isn’t a single place I went that you and your lens didn’t go,” Davido wrote.
“I can’t believe I’m writing you a tribute right now wtf we still had so much to do.” Your training sessions. Your studios, that is. Trips and shows are on the horizon. Moments. Scenes. It’s all there. I’m shocked you didn’t give me the opportunity to keep the rest of my promises to you. Right now, my heart is so heavy, and I’m so grateful I met you.
You were, without a doubt, the best child. You’re a rare breed, and I’m grateful that we got to travel the world together and share so many memorable moments. You are irreplaceable, and although you are no longer with us, I will make certain that you are never forgotten! It’s a guarantee! This one is dedicated to you! Little bro, rest in peace. I will always love you. #FortuneShotItAll”
Fortune will be the singer’s second close associate to pass away this year. Fortune died just three months after another close aide, Habeeb Ademola Uthman, also known as Obama DMW, died of a heart condition.
